BENEFITS OF A ROTATION DIET

By rotating and varying your diet as much as possible, you are obtaining a wider spectrum of nutrients, and allowing your body to lose some of its sensitivity to certain foods to which you have acquired an intolerance. Although I should make it clear at this point that any allergies you were born with, for instance peanut allergy, are fixed allergies and you will always have to avoid these.

Food rotation diets are not a new concept. It is many years now since Dr Theron Randolph first introduced his rotation diet which he developed for his patients in America. Dr Richard Mackarness, (in the UK) developed the Stone Age Diet. Dr Jonathan Maberly and Dr Honor Anthony and their staff at Airedale Allergy Centre developed their own rotation version of this diet and after my husband's treatment there and my own treatment at a clinic in York we have devised our own expanded version of this diet to give allergy sufferers as much choice and variety as possible to allow for likes and dislikes, existing allergies and intolerances as well as seasonal availability, expense etc.

I should point out that at first you may easily feel a good deal worse as you start to get withdrawal symptoms from your favourite "fixes". This will soon pass and if you keep a diary of your daily diet you should soon begin to identify which foods are causing your worst symptoms.

You will probably find it easier to allow four separate cupboards for each day's staple foods so that you don't get them mixed up. Colour coded stickers are a big help too, as is a four tier vegetable rack, and four separate freezer compartments. This all sounds complicated on the outset but I can assure you that the benefits you gain in restored health and vitality are well worth the initial effort of setting up the diet, you will probably find it easier to divide your shopping list into four short ones instead of one long one.
